Week ending 2/26/10

It seemed like such a long week. Students have been kept indoors during recess due to the wind chill. Wow. Hopefully they'll be able to get out over the weekend and next week.
We concluded our dance unit and will be on floor hockey next week. Many 5th grade students have been asking about floor hockey intramurals. A permission slip will go out in 2 weeks and we will begin playing right after our spring break. We'll play after school and there is no fee to participate - the more students the merrier.

We'll continue our dance unit next week, and into the next since we have a shortened week due to President's Day.

Week ending 2/5/10

Each week seems to go by just a little bit quicker than the previous one. I cannot believe that we are more than 1/2 way through this school year.
We finished basketball this week, had written and/or skill tests as well. We also had a few days in most classes to play some generic games.
Yes, next week we begin our dance unit for 2 weeks. We start with line and party dances, then go on to folk and square dance. I'm sure students will have many comments that they will bring home to you re: this unit (it never fails). Some of them will be good, others negative. The life skills they learn in this unit are invaluable.
